Dunkirk
|
Anyone seen it yet?
Watched it last night. Best war film I've seen in my opinion. It's like being strapped in a roller coaster.

Re: Dunkirk

did you see it on IMAX?
all the reviews seem to suggest you should be watching it on that, though a score a ticket is a bit fucking STEEP

Hoping to see it this week Alf's. There was a nice touch in the evening Standard yesterday where they printed a copy of the headlines from 1940 covering the evacuation it also included a feature on West Ham and the wartime Cup.
Girl in my son's class dad, is the Archivist for the Dunkirk Little Ships Assocation. His Grandad was a Mr Tough who owned a boatyard up in Teddington his job was to convince boat owners up in the upper Thames to go on a 'little Adventure!'

Re: Dunkirk

With Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan there's a lot of plot and character development.
Forget all that with Dunkirk. It's just straight in there, and its like you're playing a 1st person computer game.
Might not be for everyone but I found it better. Fucking terrifying.

Yngwies cat - I live in Kingston but had never heard of the Teddington connection. I'll check it out and see if there's any local history on it.

A USA Today review of “Dunkirk” is under increased scrutiny from industry peers for warning viewers that it lacks women and minorities.
They know fuck all about WW2

I remember being absolutely spellbound in the cinema with just about everyone else at the opening scenes of saving private Ryan so if Dunkirk is anything like that I'm in for a treat

Saw it yesterday, £9 for me and the missus.
Excellent movie but the one criticism would be that there was no sense of the numbers of men involved. I would still say the Dunkirk scene in Atonement was more stunning
Oh and Harry Styles gave a decent performance
